it's been far too long...

without a creative post i do declare...which is why i'm seizing this opportunity to show a little of what i did today :]  it makes me happy and one idea has led to another which is doing marvelous things for my creative state of mind :]  anyway, i spent the majority of the day prepping, cutting, perusing, plotting and then sorting and cleaning.  i got the cover started [still need to add a little something to that- it's still undecided] and the inside cover is done and i got the first page done...these three things are the hardest part for me.  they're definitely the stumpers that slow the process down a lot but once they're done, it's on like donkey kong!  i'm kind of excited about this one...i'm planning on using a lot of teresa collins goodies from several of her lines and there are lots of fun little bits and pieces going into it.  it's going to be a super full book so i'm thinking i'm may just post photos here as i get sections done- otherwise, it could result in quite possibly the most epic and just plain drawn out posts ever.  i shall spare you all :]

i'm also going to take this moment to confess that i have a new obsession...little paper bags and envelopes.  true story- they are wonderful and lovely and i just can't get enough of them right now...oh and doilies too :]  i think i may be the proud owner of an addictive personality, just sayin.

alright, gonna go eat some grub and then joseph [sammo's baby brother] has a gig downtown at a cute little coffee shop so i'm taking the camera for some candids...speaking of photos of the siblings...we had a little photo shoot at like 1 am the night before sammo left...here are his bro's and sis :]  they are a pretty group i tell ya.

oh man.  all i can say is crazy pants...everything has been crazy pants for the past few weeks.  i wish i could say that i had photos to share at this moment but alas that would make me a big old liar.  but they are coming soon, i assure you of this :] 

so in order to get the blog back on track i'm making a list...basically, this is what i've been up to lately :] ready, set, go...oh and they will more than likely not be chronological but all is well because i'm counting on my ocd to kick in tomorrow-ish and that will no doubt force me to rearrange the list so that it is an accurate account, ha!

• packing like crazy for the move
• beginning the most epic road trip ever a day late, lol.  we left on sunday.  eep.
• stopping to walk around a huge hole in arizona...not the grand canyon- but the meteor crater.  the girl was nutso over the whole experience...so funny.
• the girl turned 8 on day deux of our journey.  there were 8 little gifts involved, an interesting walmart stop and apple pie with ice cream at the cracker barrel...yummo!
• only getting lost once.
• crazy drivers, funny conversations and just an awesome time for the three of us. 
• arriving in georgia after just 3 days of driving.  we were some driving fools, i tell ya.
• omg...i'm blogging in southern dialect now.  the transformation is underway. oh dear.
• lots of hanging out with old friends.  eating really good food.  not looking forward to the impending departure of my favorite fella.  the last week of november was a melancholy one for sure.  it was a struggle, everyday got increasingly more bittersweet.
• somewhere in the midst of all this, we managed to get a pretty awesome make-shift scrapbooking area set up for both the girl and i.  sammo was even into it, ha!  he and his mom were scavenging all sorts of organizational items...they found the coolest library card catalog for me to use.  yeah- drawers, drawers and more drawers.  heaven much?
• thanksgiving.  omg.  i think i'm still full from that momentous occasion.  it was gloriously southern, deep fried, made with tons of heart and soul and just fabulous.  snaps for the fried cornbread, seriously, oh-em-gee.
• took sammo to the airport friday.  cried all day long off and on.  that was rough. 
• enrolled brianna in school on monday...there was a whole lot of runaround involved in that...we won't go there, ha!  suffice it to say, her first day ended up being on tuesday instead and it's going to be one heck of an adjustment for me- but my girl is so amazingly resilient...not gonna lie, i'm kinda jealous.  she's so awesome.
• the girl has been having way too much fun with all the cousins and friends and aunts and uncles and grandparents...each day i'm more certain that it was the right choice for us to be here during sam's deployment.  seriously, she doesn't have a moment to think about him not being here...she misses him a ton, don't get me wrong, but she's not able to dwell on it for too long and for that i'm super thankful.
• i did a little something fun for the awesome folks at basic grey about a week ago...i'll share more on that when i can :]
• the agenda for this week: kit club stuff (yay!), etsy store stuff (it's so fun i can't even stand it), teresa collins stuff (doing a road trip album, yes i said album...it's 6 x 9 but it's going to be stuffed with goodness), and somehow i got roped into designing something creative for  the girls class (i'm thinking it should be a record...2nd day of school and i'm already in over my head, ha!)
• this weekend: the girl and i are going to shogun.  seriously, hands down, the best japanese food in the world...i think it might just be better than the stuff you get in japan.  true story. 

i think that covers most of it.  i feel like i can start posting again.  phew!  if you made it to the end of this whole post then kudos...you are a true friend or you are just plain bored out of your mind, ha!  either way, i love ya for it. 

gotta go for now, we rented night at the museum so i'm going to go loaf on the couch for a few...

the last day

i showed up at the girl's school a little early this afternoon to get some pics of her and her friends :[  they were so sweet and super into being photographed.  a minor altercation broke out when a little guy from another class wanted in on the action...ha!  all the kiddos in b's class were like, 'hey you're not in our class!'  [later on the way home i asked b if she knew that sweet little boy and she said, nope, maybe he's a first grader or something, lol, what a ham!]

tomorrow is the big day!!!  we're almost ready...just taking care of last minute details like packing, ha!  i'll try to hijack some wifi on our journey to share some of the crazy adventure :]  we'll see what happens!

road trip equals music quest...

wanted to share a couple of my new favorites...my sister told me about phoenix this afternoon and i didn't realize that they were the ones responsible for making cadillac look cool...their new commercial campaign has some of the best music ever!  so this song is the one from their commercial but i think i like 'lasso' even better :]

you should seriously check out everything from phoenix...so good.  also on my recent favs list...pretty much anything by karen o & the kids...they did the majority of the "where the wild things are" soundtrack.  uh yeah, amazing.

a little grizzly bear...might have already put them on a previous post but what can i say?  they are kind of a big deal too :]

alphanumeric perplexia

ummm yeah.  totally random post going on right now...just had to share my most recent self-diagnosis, it's funny- not serious or life-threatening in any way.  you have to promise that if you do the same thing- you will fess up because i'm not gonna lie...i feel so alone in this. ha! 

just got off the phone with my cute sister, kandace :]  and as most people know, we have some of the funniest, random and weird convos ever.  this is no exception.  anyway, while we were chatting about the usual stuff i was multi-tasking (typing instructions for a mini album kit) and was reminded of this weird thing that i do while typing...so here's the deal...i never learned how to type the number keys at the top of the keyboard (only the 10-key pad) and when i get to typing really fast, i type numbers as letters.  not type them out like 'seven' but instead of '7' i type the letter 'v' i have made a conversion chart to better illustrate my alphanumeric perplexia...

1= L

2= Z

3= E

4= H

5= S

6= b

7= V

8= g

9= P

weird right?!?  apparently my sister doesn't do this so i can rule out a genetic disorder which leaves me with the feeling that i'm just crazy pants.  unacceptable and yet so stinking hilarious at the same time.

so yeah, please let me know if you or anyone you know does this...i think it might ease my anxiety a bit.

today's todon'ts

learned a valuable lesson today...when scheduled for a 'female' appointment, the usual pre-appointment maintenance should definitely include a good sock choice.  allow me to elaborate...you see, i don't wear socks very often since i love my flip flops so dearly.  well, i wanted to wear these super cute boots this morning and alas, almost all of my socks were at the bottom of the hamper except one pair in my sock drawer that i gingerly grabbed thinking to myself, 'no one will see them because i'm wearing the super cute boots.'  umm, duh?

so, i get to my appointment (we all know the drill so i won't go into the particulars on this one...we'll just skip ahead) don my uber-attractive paper dress and the doc comes in and is like, 'can i just say something?  those socks are FANTASTIC!' 

omg.  i die.  red face, the whole nine yards.  wanna see the only clean pair of socks i had?  i know you do.

yeah.  classy right?  nothing says i'm ready for my exam like russian nesting dolls, eh?

so let this be a lesson to you.  make good choices. don't forget that your feet will be in stirrups.  and no sudden movements.

it's halloween ya'll!!!

i love love love me some halloween!  woke up this morning with haywire sinuses and normally this would ruin my day (since my sinuses hate me and i in turn hate them right back, ha) but it's halloween...so that changes the game a little, lol.

so, last night at around 4:30 i finished one of my other layouts and took photos but ran out of time to edit and post them so i think i'll do that now :]  this one is about brianna's manic obsession with the marble mining at bishops, ha! 

this one actually took a little longer than the leaf layout on the hand- stitching thing...not sure how that's possible but true story- it took forever.

oh! and speaking of marble mining...sammo is volunteering at the pumpkin patch today so the girl and i are going to go hit him up for some free parking :]  love love love how this day is shaping up...

just a few more photos to share for the family (and anyone else who's interested, lol)...the pink punk pirate herself, at school, in costume.  the kiddos had way too much fun, literally- bouncing off the walls parkour-style and i'm pretty sure there was whispers of mutiny floating about.  it was sketchy...but in a fabulous way.  they had a blast and we had fun watching them go crazy pants. 

alright friends...we are off to the pumpkin farm and then it's trick or treat time!!!  yay!  i hope you all have a super safe, super sweet halloween!
