finally finished a section of my felt garland to show you guys! yess! it doesn't actually take that long, it took me a while because i kept changing my mind and thinking of other ways and then redoing it and so on and so on. but i like it like this so i'm leaving it alone for now :]
this little strip was left over from when i was smooshing the pieces together to see if i liked it really smooshed or if just a little smooshed was better and it broke. metal. wire. broke. how does this happen?!?! it was like a snow storm of felt squares. jeez. that was painful to bear but i've moved past it, regrouped, sorted the strays back into their trays and i finished the section that will be on the bottom of the tree...
so here's how i made mine different from ali's- i folded the squares corner to corner and then threaded them on the wire. i like that it's sort of puffy and ok, not gonna lie, it doesn't take nearly as many squares (and thus cutting of squares) as it would if i were just threading them on flat.
and yes, we changed the color scheme! i was so over our traditional decor, i wanted it to be more 'us' so mom & dad's gift to me this year was new christmas ornaments and stockings :] thanks ma & pa...you know that this is the best gift ever because it gives me more options for making cute stuff. here are the stockings we got too, they match the tree skirt :]
and last but not least...my to do pile. i still have to snazz up the letters that sam painted for me, put new ribbons through and make more felt garlands (a couple more of the red and white and then a few polka dot ones for good measure).
merry. merry.
