...a new one. and here's my excuse... so, i have this big binder that houses all my crazy pants ideas, wacked out doodles and whatever else happens to cross my memory lacking mind. i also use it for sketching (on graph paper). well, that's been tedious because when i sketch, one sketch tends to lead to 20 sketches and it's a vicious cycle wherein i am basically scribbling 12 x 12 and 8.5 x 11 blocks all willy nilly, it looks very messy and my ocd can't take it any longer. so i made a different kind of sketch book this time around and i love it so much that i wanted to share the process with you guys :] i'll do pics first and then a how to and some links to the files so that you can print pages and make your own sketchbook too!
ok, supplies you'll need...
- chipboard sheets- i used (4) 12 x 12 sheets and cut them down to 9 x 11 and then used the leftover to make a little cover flap (it gives it a little something extra, haha) that one is 3 x 11
- bind it all- 1 inch rings (more on that in the instructions)
- patterned papers- i like it bright and bold
- printer paper
- heavy duty corner rounder
- adhesive
cut all the chipboard pieces to size...adhere patterned papers to the chipboard dividers...they will be 1/2 inch wider than the sketch pages so you can add labels (i'm going to use the tiny alpha stickers by making memories to label my sections)
print pages...i do more 12 x 12 layouts at this point so i printed over twice as many 12 x 12 sketch sheets for my book (50 to 60 pages) and the 8.5 x 11 i printed 20 landscape and 20 portrait pages. here are links to those word files...
punch it...because i'm sort of lazy with measuring, i like to do the binding the easy way. so i just align the top edges with the outside edge of my bind it all (which gives you a half inch gutter from the top and bottom) and punch...this will give you 6 holes on the top and do the bottoms the same way. no aligning or measuring is a beautiful thing.
bind it...get everything in order, i did 12 x 12 in the front since it's what i use the most, then portrait, then landscape. each section is seperated with a divider page. now just put your rings in (if you don't have a bind it all, you could also use loose leaf binder rings)
voila...you're done.
hope you're all having a fabulous monderday...it's back to work for me (and maybe a game of bingo or yahtzee in between)
xo, kins
