and the water feels nice :] so we're all unpacked and my new 'studio' space has be christened, yay! and by 'studio' i mean glorified closet, ha! we downsized and i'm not gonna lie, the studio room didn't fit so well in a closet...lots of purging going on in these parts so the etsy store should be up and coming really soon (lots of kits being made).
i'm so behind on the blogging so after a little show and tell i'm going to brush over the highlights of the past few months :]
first things first...a stitching project (it's a work in progress but i really love the concept)...so, i was flipping through the may/june 2010 issue of creating keepsakes and found this super cute cover page:
all of the lines were initially white (i traced over them with a pen) and the idea was to use the image as a stitching template. i taped the magazine page to my background cardstock and pierced...and then pierced some more...i decided that the circles, larger leaves and the bird would be paper appliqued (you can find a how to post here) and the smaller leaves and the stem would be painted. so i painted first, using the pierced holes as guidelines (painting in between stitching is kind of tedious so i definitely recommend painting first, stitching last, lol). here's a couple pix of the semi-finished layout...
some of the larger circles will have photos inside and the really big circle will be the title and journaling :] i'll post pix of the completed layout soon-ish!
now the second project...i revamped my old inspiration binder :] i know, i'm kind of a freak about binders and organization...but i digress. here's the old version...and this is the new model :]
first section: calendars
and it just so happens that i made printable pdf files for those of you who have binder obsessions too :]
second section: ideas & sketches...i have about 8 notebooks that i've done sketches in which is unruly to say the least, so i combined them and now they're coexisting in one manageable space :]
these are the dividers for my 'sketches' section (apologies for the blurry pic...i was rushing) the tabs are: ideas, letter (8.5 x 11 sketches), 12s (12 x 12 sketches), cards, and minis.
third section: etsy
the etsy section has a combination of different fill paper...lined, graph and ledger. the lined is for lists and notes, the graph is for sketches and notes, and the ledger is for pricing :]
fourth section: home decor & improvement ideas
fifth section: family stuff (important info...etc.)
sixth section: random/miscellaneous stuff
binder and pg protectors- american crafts, papers- studio calico, october afternoon, hambly.
now, for the update :]
kandace (my little sister) is doing awesome! so proud of that kid...she works her butt off in physical therapy...she's walking around (with the help of a crutch), she's able to bend both knees and her elbow and the most amazing part- her sense of humor is still front and center :] she's kind of a big deal.
sammo got back safe and sound from his deployment (that kid was gone for 8 months!) and i'm not gonna lie, my day to day is so much better with him around.
beezy just started 3rd grade and i'm pretty sure she's under the impression that she's actually an 8th grader...we're gonna have to work on that, haha! but seriously, she loves everything about it so far with one exception, 'sailboat spelling'. it's a homework assignment where they practice their spelling words by writing them out like "h, ho, hom, home, homew, homewo, homewor, homework" so each word makes a triangle like a sail...yeah, she's not a fan.
and i am staying busy with housework, homework, making stuff, checking things off lists, mad men, netflix and lots of caffeine :] oh, and i've got a secret to spill soon! but for now, laundry is piling up so i'm thinking i should probably go take care of that :]
i've missed you!!!
hugs, kins
