studio calico's october kit *field guide* is up! i am so excited about this month because it's one of my favorites (and also, because it's my first month designing for sc)...here's a look at the kits this month. i ended up ordering the main kit, add on 1- perennial, and add on 4- almanac...but i have to be honest, i'm kicking myself for not getting 2 and 3 also (the stamps in all of them are beyond).
so my first layout was made using the main kit only:
one of my favorite things about every sc kit is the exclusives...this month there were stamps, papers (from sc & sassafras lass), journaling tags, & chipboard butterflies...so on this layout, i didn't do it intentionally but i ended up using majority exclusives :) for the title, i sprayed the letter stickers lightly with sc white mister huey to tone down the brightness a bit.
this month we did a pinterest inspiration feature where we all chose a pin to use as inspo for one of our gallery layouts. this is what i came up with for mine (it's my favorite layout from this month). i only wanted the flap of the envelope to show so i used my xacto knife to cut a slit along the stitch line and pulled the envelope flap through so the envelope is still intact and holds hidden journaling.
this is one that i've been wanting to get on paper for a while now...it's all about handwriting :) probably sounds kind of weird, ha! but it's something that my mom and dad taught us was important growing up and i'm so glad they did. i found some letters that they wrote beezy when she was a baby and scanned/ printed sections of them because i love their handwriting so much. i used only add on 1 on this one and that circle background stamp? yep, it's my new favorite :)
this one was also made using add on 1 only...love this kit! my square punch got a work out on this one and i finally got to bust out my mister huey shine! btw, love it...i actually mixed it with several colors of mister huey to 'watercolor' in some of the blocks and i love how it turned out so i'll be doing that again soon :)
this one was made using a combo of bits from all 3 of the kits i got...it's all about school and nerdery :)
and last but not least...the amy tan mini book! so so so fun! this little lovely comes in add on 4- almanac and i believe it's sold out, with good reason...it's the cutest mini book i've seen in a while.
i had so much fun with the october goodies that i'm still making things with it :) yep, it's *that* good.
so that's all i have for today but i have a few projects in the works that should be making their way to the blog pretty soon!
thanks so much for stopping by! hugs, kins
