hey everyone! i'm back with my full layouts from the march kits and a few other fun things!
so here's my main kit only layout made using the story hour kit...
for this one, i used my trusty friend from geometry class- the compass :) i used the centerpoint of the middle circle and work my way out adding punched shapes to one ring and then using the compass to pencil in a circle further out. once i've added the punches to each circle, i erased the pencil lines and then once everything is in place, i use the compas one more time to make stitching guidelines. the solid white ring areas were made using paint and a 1/4 inch flat brush. i also masked the center circles and misted the outer edge of the page using mister huey's warm calico (one of my favorite, go to mists...the other one that i always reach for is clay.)
this one is my favorite layouts from my gallery because it's outside of my norm and i'm kind of stoked it turned out how i envisioned (for once!). i don't usually do a lot of layering so i'm glad i changed things up this month- this one was a stretch and it was so fun! i used illustrated and narrative here- they were my favorite add ons this month and apparently i wasn't alone in that because they sold out like lightening! i started by moving all the elements around until it felt right and then i taped it all together (on the backside of course) and then used my tiny attacher to staple the pieces together.
this one was for the pinterest challenge- you can check out my inspiration piece in the sc dt gallery :) i used my silhouette software to create my own wonky triangle cut file and i'm kicking myself because i closed the program without saving it first...gahhhh! if i get a second, i'll whip up another one to share with y'all :) i backed each triangle cut out with patterned papers and then stitched it into place.
i used my super sized circle punch to create an overlapping circle pattern and then cut some of the sections out using my craft knife. i also used a small brush to 'paint' some clay huey's along the outline of the cutouts. lastly, i stitched diagonal lines through everything and then added some brads and periods (from the glitter thickers) at the intersections. oh and the felt pieces, i cut from the mme border strips by hand.
i'm keeping this month's kits together for a bit because i reeeally want to do more with them. i only managed 4 layouts this month because while i was doing kit work, i was also playing with the happy little moments project kit from sc and maggie holmes :) speaking of the class- you can still sign up but hurry because it starts tomorrow!
GO HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE CLASS!!!
it's only $10 and kelly just told us that the pdf for the class ended up being 40 pages full of inspiration...i'm so excited about it!
edited to add: i was just reading the thread on the message board about the class and some of the questions got me thinking...i think the thing that makes this class such an awesome deal is that you don't have to use a book...lisa was talking about using one of amy tan's daybooks, or you could make your own book, use a journal, a dictionary would be fun too... so many possibilities. honestly, even if you don't end up making a book at all (although, you'd be missing out on a fun project) there are so many fun technique ideas that are easily applied to scrapbooking and cardmaking and even the layouts of the pages in our books can be turned into page sketches...i don't want anyone to miss out on it. so if you're on the fence about it, i highly recommend taking the plunge because it's a great class- i'm so inspired by all the ladies involved with it and i'm sure you will be too.
okay, i'm off to take some pics of my little giveaway goodie bags and i'll be back soon with that!
xo, kins
ps. here's a supply list of everything i used this month...
