Popping in to share my full layouts made using the Studio Calico March kits- Neverland. Loved this month's kits, loved what I came up with, hated my lack of playtime this month though.
Main Scrapbook Kit only:
I cut one section of the mask in this month's kit to create the large chevron arrows and punched tiny hearts from several of the patterned papers then glued them down sideways to create heart 'arrows'. I also trimmed angled sections of the ribbon and layered them over the misted arrows and then stitched everything down.
This layout was inspired by Lisa Truesdell's galleries- I love how she adds little bits to all of her projects with strips on the edges of the page and lots of sewing...since I don't machine sew, I just added straight lines of handstitching with 1 strand of thread so that it sort of looks like a machine stitch. I'm really happy with how this one turned out and really? Does it get any better than a new niece to scrapbook?!
These next 2 layouts were made using a mix of all the kits:
This one is my favorite from this month and it's the most simple/clean of all of them. I started by cutting my papers into 1/4 inch strips and then cutting them with my scissors unevenly to make wonky squares/rectangles and glued the first few down one-at-a-time...that was taking way too long for my liking so I switched gears and ran the strips through the xyron and then kept them on the sticker backing paper and cut them into squares first so I could just peel and stick them into place- SO much faster. I left a few open spots in the columns and then added the little asterisk stamp in coordinating ink colors.
I had so much fun with this one just playing, cutting, moving things around, adding bits here and taking things away there...I don't usually scrapbook like that, I normally start with a sketch and a plan in mind so this was a different experience for me. I started out by journaling on a 4x6 section of the Amy Tangerine paper in one of the add on kits, printed my photo to fit inside the veneer "hello" tag, and then the paper and embellishment shuffle began. I ended up cutting the ampersand graphic out of one of the PL kit cards (4x6) and using that as a larger accent on the page to balance the photo block as well as one of the vellum strip stickers from the card kit, a few stamps from different add ons, enamel dots, and the small kraft colored alphas from the card kit. I know it doesn't look like it at all, but this layout took me the longest out of all of them...about 4 hours- eep!
Project Life Kit Only:
Okay, so I know that I'm only on week 50 of last year but in my own defense, I've been skipping around and I have a confession- I like being behind this year because we get our kits a month earlier and if I was caught up, I wouldn't have anything to do with the PL kits, ha! Just keeping it real. I am diligently taking notes on each week though to make my life easier and to help me remember the little things once I commit everything to cards. It's working for me so far and that's the most important thing :)
So, week 50, this one is just a regular spread but with an external card added to the left side (sewn into place over a 4x6) as well as a customized insert page (3x11) for Brianna's new school calendar and the story of her first day at her new school in South Carolina. Also, it's worth noting that I might've gone crazy with that striped washi tape- but only because it's irresistible. You'll see.
Forgot to add, that strip down the side of the left page is filled with glitter, sequins, and chip stickers (see through from the previous week's spread).
So that's all for this month! Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look and if you're interested in the additional supplies I used for my projects, they're all listed in my galleries (just click on each layout for the supplies used- they'll be in the bottom right corner) here and here!
