sock hop november sneaks!!!

Hey strangers! Just popping in quickly to share my sneaks for this month...it's been a hectic (understatement of the year) couple of weeks in my neck of the woods with the move so I knew I would be cutting it close with this month's kits. I only got 2 add ons this month! That's crazy. I love all of them though but ended up going with the 2 that were my absolute favorites and that was really tough for me...so the winners were Bobby Socks (1) and Penny Loafers (2) :)

I ended up with 3 layouts before the moving situation reached DEFCON5, ha! I had to put down the paper and get to packing and cleaning- booooo.

Eventhough the fun with this month's kits was short lived- I loved every minute of it :)

A Layout and a Freebie

So I've been playing around with Silhouette cut files again and I ended up making 8 backgrounds and several other smaller cut files that you guys will see soon...I used 2 of those files on my most recent Studio Calico layout that was on the blog today.

patterned paper - Studio Calico Yearbook, American Crafts- POW glitter paper ; letter stickers - Studio Calico Sothebys Charcoal Thickers ; veneer - Studio Calico Speech Bubbles ; Pockets- Studio Calico Yearbook Stitched Pockets ; spray mist- Studio Calico Pinstripe and Dark Calico Mister Hueys ; journaling card- Studio Calico Yearbook Journal Cards ; other - white cardstock, brown pen.

The 2 files I made for this one are the arrow starburst and the 'this' word cut file (I made that one using my iPad- geeking out about it!). If you'd like to add them to your Silhouette stash, you can download them below by clicking the links- enjoy!

studio calico || roller rink reveal

roller rink, you had me at woodgrain sotheby's thickers. and if i had to choose a favorite add on, i think it'd be a tie between rainbow kneesocks and couple's skate (so technically that's 2 but i've never been good at choosing, ha!)

here's what i made this month with everything...

roller rink || main kit only

i used the curious arrows cut file on this one and then filled the chevron bits with patterned papers. I also stamped and handcut the asterisk flowers and I also added the washi tape for journaling (LOVE).

rainbow kneesocks || add on 1 only

i used my silhouette to make a mask and then misted the title with mister hueys pinstripe. i love the amy tan paper in this add on so i wanted to feature it on the page. i ended up punching stars from the paper and then stitching them onto the background piece. i also outlined each star using a white pen to make them stand out more.

couple's skate || add on 2 only

i'll be honest, this one is a little bit messy and outside of my comfort zone- which is why i love it. i don't usually spray mist and throw it down all willy nilly so i must've gotten a wild hair or something, ha! 

the cork thickers in this kit are fabulous but they weren't working with this page so i peeled the cork off and then mixed my own paint color using white acrylic paint and a few drops of mister huey's letter jacket and boss lady. i cut the large doily out of the woodgrain paper using my silhouette and then once i was happy with the arrangement, i stitched everything into place with metallic gold dmc embroidery floss.

i think this one is my favorite from my gallery this month, what can i say- i'm a sucker for roy g biv :) i used something from every kit on this layout and those wooden button things from mme are a hit!

this one is straightforward, no ground-breaking techniques or anything- just paper, stickers, and stamps...oh and some rad washi tape that is really wide and i will be hoarding it for sure :)

sc roller rink sneak time!!!

stopping in really quickly to post my sneaks from this month! i love love love this kit and i'm happy to report that thanks to roller rink and all the add ons, i've now begun hoarding the my minds eye enamel dots. i can't ever have enough of them. ever.
